Where Do Downloaded Pinterest Videos Go? Find Them on Any Device

You downloaded a Pinterest video, the browser said it finished — and now it's nowhere to be seen. Don't download it again yet. The file almost always went to your browser's default downloads location, which isn't always where you'd look first. Here's where to find it on every device.

iPhone and iPad

Safari: downloads go to the Files app, in the Downloads folder — not to Photos. That folder lives under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, depending on your settings.

  • Fastest way to it: tap the blue download arrow in Safari's address bar right after the download, then tap the file.
  • To check or change the location: Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads (on older iOS versions: Settings → Safari → Downloads).
  • To move the video to your camera roll: open it in Files, tap Share → Save Video. Our camera roll guide walks through it.

Chrome on iPhone: tap Open in… on the bar that appears after downloading. If you missed it, look in Files under On My iPhone → Chrome.

Search works too: open the Files app, pull down to reveal the search bar and type mp4. Recent downloads show up at the top.

Android

Most Android browsers save to the phone's Download folder (sometimes shown as "Downloads").

  • Chrome: tap the three-dot menu → Downloads for a list of everything you've downloaded. Tapping a file opens it.
  • Samsung Internet: menu → Downloads. Files are stored in the Download folder in My Files.
  • Firefox: menu → Downloads.
  • Any browser: open the Files by Google app (or your phone's file manager) and tap Downloads.

Not in your Gallery or Google Photos? Gallery apps don't always pick up new files in the Download folder immediately. Wait a minute, or open the video from your file manager instead. In Google Photos, check Library → Download; if the folder isn't backed up, it may only appear under "On this device".

Windows PC

By default, files go to This PC → Downloads (C:\Users\YourName\Downloads). Shortcuts that open your browser's download list:

BrowserShortcut
ChromeCtrl + J
EdgeCtrl + J
FirefoxCtrl + Shift + Y

From the list, click Show in folder to jump straight to the file in File Explorer.

Mac

Files go to the Downloads folder, which is in the Finder sidebar and on the right side of the Dock.

BrowserShortcut
SafariOption + Cmd + L
ChromeOption + Cmd + L
FirefoxCmd + Shift + Y

You can also press Cmd + Space, type the start of the video's name, and Spotlight finds it.

Chromebook

Open the Files app and select Downloads in the sidebar, or press Ctrl + J in Chrome.

What is the file called?

GrabVid names the file after the pin's title when there is one, so a recipe video might be saved as something like Easy-Garlic-Butter-Pasta.mp4. Pins without a title are saved with a generic GrabVid name. If you download several videos, sort your Downloads folder by date to find the newest one.

Still can't find it?

If the download list is empty, the download probably never started — common in in-app browsers (the ones inside Instagram, Facebook or TikTok). Open GrabVid in Safari or Chrome and try again. For errors and other problems, see Pinterest video not downloading? 9 fixes.

FAQ

Can I choose where Pinterest videos are saved?

Yes. In Chrome or Edge on a computer, go to Settings → Downloads and turn on "Ask where to save each file". On iPhone, change Safari's download location in Settings. On Android, most browsers use the Download folder by default.

Why is the video in Files and not in Photos on my iPhone?

Safari saves all downloads to the Files app. Use Share → Save Video to copy it into Photos.
