How to Copy a Pinterest Video Link on iPhone, Android and PC
To download, share or send a Pinterest video, you first need its link — and Pinterest doesn't make that button obvious. It's also easy to copy the wrong link: a board or profile instead of the single pin you want. This guide shows where to tap on each device and how to check you've got the right link.
In the Pinterest app (iPhone and Android)
- Tap the video so it opens on its own full screen. Don't copy from the feed or a board grid.
- Look under the video for the Share icon — an arrow pointing up (iPhone) or a share symbol (Android).
- In the share sheet, tap Copy link. Pinterest shows a small "Copied" confirmation.
The link you get from the app is usually a short one like https://pin.it/AbCd123. That's normal: it points to the same pin as the long URL, and downloaders such as GrabVid accept it directly.
Can't see the Share icon? On some layouts it's inside the three-dot menu (•••) next to the pin. Tap the dots, then Share or Copy link.
Sharing straight from the app (Android)
On Android you can skip copying altogether. Open grabvid.online in Chrome, use the browser menu to Add to Home screen, and GrabVid then appears in the Pinterest app's share menu. Sending a pin to it starts the download straight away.
On the Pinterest website (PC, Mac, Chromebook)
- Click the video pin so it opens on its own page.
- Click the browser's address bar and copy the URL with Ctrl + C (Cmd + C on Mac).
Alternatively, click the Share icon on the pin page and choose Copy link. Both give you a working link.
On the mobile website
If you browse Pinterest in Safari or Chrome rather than the app, open the pin, then copy the URL from the address bar: press and hold it on Android, or tap the address bar and then Copy on iPhone.
How to tell a pin link from the wrong kind of link
A downloader can only work with the link to one pin. Here's how to recognise each type:
| Link looks like | What it is | Works for downloading? |
|---|---|---|
pinterest.com/pin/1234567890/ | A single pin | Yes |
pin.it/AbCd123 | Short link to a pin (from the app) | Yes |
uk.pinterest.com/pin/…, pinterest.fr/pin/… | A pin on a regional Pinterest site | Yes |
pinterest.com/username/board-name/ | A board | No — open one pin first |
pinterest.com/username/ | A profile | No |
pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=… | Search results | No |
The quick rule: if it has /pin/ in it, or it's a pin.it link, you're good.
Common mistakes
- Copying from a board. The share button on a board shares the whole board. Open the video first.
- Copying the creator's website link. Some pins have a "Visit" button that leads to a blog or shop. That link goes to the creator's site, not the pin.
- Extra text in the clipboard. Some apps copy "Check out this pin! https://pin.it/…". GrabVid picks the link out of the text, but other tools might not — delete the extra words if a tool complains.
Now download it
With the link copied, open the Pinterest Video Downloader, tap Paste and then Download. For photos use the Image Downloader, and for animations the GIF Downloader. If something goes wrong, see why a Pinterest video isn't downloading.
FAQ
Why does my Pinterest link start with pin.it?
The Pinterest app shortens links when you share them. A pin.it link redirects to the full pin page, so it works anywhere the long link does.
Can I copy a Pinterest link without the app?
Yes. Open pinterest.com in any browser, open the pin and copy the URL from the address bar.
